![]() ![]() ![]() I would never want to be lying on a medical-type table and have some random person start playing with my dick. Despite it being 2021, statistics show that lesbian, gay, and bisexual folks are still 9 more likely to face discrimination when they seek healthcare and/or wellness services. I’ve asked a lot of women if they ever feel vulnerable, or like someone might touch them where they don’t want to be touched and every woman I’ve ever asked that of has appeared shocked at the suggestion they tend to think of masseurs as being as professional and clinical as physicians are, whereas every man I’ve ever heard discuss massages has made a “happy ending” joke. However, as with most health-related endeavors, being LGBTQ+ can add an extra layer of complexity or even discomfort to getting a massage. I have always felt like massage places have high potential for these sorts of things and I am honestly surprised every time a female friend tells me she gets massages. I am sure I wouldn’t call the police unless there were a major sexual assault after I told the guy not to do anything, but I also am not so naive as to think a lot of massages don’t involve this sort of thing. I am gay and one of the primary reasons I’ve never had a professional massage is that I just don’t ever want to be in that awkward position.
